No more speculation people. This is a screenshot of the Nintendo Revolution controller. This is suppose to be the next gen in controllers? This is what everyone has been dying to find out? Microsofts' New Hotmail...

Mail Beta - Epic Empire

Microsoft has built an entirely new service to replace Hotmail named Mail Beta. The development team is focusing on creating a product around “real customers”. The team is aiming for simplicity, efficiency, and clarity with Mail Beta, codenamed “Kahuna”.

Joe:
Wow! Got look at the pics of the new hotmail from Micro$oft. It is very impressive. Guess Google needs to step up and redesign their gmail system. This is the kind of stuff I like to see. Two powerhouse companies trying to outdo and out "cool" one another. The winner is always us... the users.

Will We Merge With Machines? - Popular Science

Will We Merge With Machines? - Popular Science

The pattern is familiar: Researchers develop a technology or drug to aid the ailing. Soon thereafter, healthy people co-opt it to make themselves stronger, faster or smarter. Follow this trend far enough, and we reach the augmented human. Popular Science has scoured the most promising research under way in bioengineering laboratories worldwide to take an informed look at how technology will enter and alter our bodies over the coming decades.

Joe:
I want to be a cyborg damnit!
Hook me up government scientist!
Haha, we will see a lot of shit in the near future people. If we don't blow ourselves up first...haha

Free computer science and programming books

FreeTechBooks.com - Free computer science and programming books

This site lists free online computer science books and lecture notes, all of which are freely and legally available over the Internet.

Joe:
Ok..Ok...don't get excited...
I checked this guy out. Not exactly as cool as it sounds above.
Most of the books I looked at were either example chapters from and actual book they want you to buy or a like to some nice online only web-books. Might become more...still young, so bookmark it and check up on it from time to time. Also the "web-books" that i mentioned are actually pretty good reference tools.

Global Warming 'Past The Point of No Return'?

Global warming 'past the point of no return'

A record loss of sea ice in the Arctic this summer has convinced scientists that the northern hemisphere may have crossed a critical threshold beyond which the climate may never recover. Scientists fear that the Arctic has now entered an irreversible phase of warming which will accelerate the loss of the polar sea ice that has helped to keep the climate stable for thousands of years.

Joe:
Great...
Remember that movie last year?
The Day After Tomorrow
This means that that movie will come true...just not as fast.

Browser Security Test

Browser Security Test: "Scanit's Browser Security Test automatically checks your browser for various security problems. When the test is finished you get a complete report explaining the discovered vulnerabilities, their impact and how to eliminate them."

Joe:
ok...ok...tried this...its not an app, you can run this test through your web browser. My firefox had no vulnerabilities (figured that one). The surprise was that my IE didn't have any. Of course I am a sys admin so I do take care of my system. Give it a try. Comment if you find that it finds a lot of vulnerabilities on ur system.

Slashdot | Judge Clears the Way for Google's Microsoft Hire

Slashdot | Judge Clears the Way for Google's Microsoft Hire: "MarkEst1973 was one of the first to write to tell us MSNBC is reporting that a Judge has cleared the way for Google to hire former Microsoft employee Kai-Fu Lee. The hire does come with several limitations and Lee was also found to have 'misled his former employer and taken advantage of confidential Microsoft information'. This comes as a follow up to the original story in which Microsoft sued Google in order to prevent the hire. Tom Burt was quoted as saying that 'Dr. Lee is going to be the highest-paid HR manager ever.'"

Ok, if you haven't heard of this...
Microsoft is all pissed because several of their employees are leaving and going to Google. I don't think they are pissed because they think that these employees are going to help Google with the rumored operating system project, I think they are pissed because if the PR of the whole thing. They look bad...but you know, if they wouldn't make such a big fuss over it then you would just see a couple of news posts saying "so n so" left Microsoft for Google and that would be it. Now it is a swamp of media news posts. Oh, Microsoft...when will u learn?

Slashdot | GMC to Begin Remotely Scanning Cars for Trouble

Slashdot | GMC to Begin Remotely Scanning Cars for Trouble: "GMC, in an effort to give their vehicles more appeal to consumers, will begin offering an 'OnStar Vehicle Diagnostics' program for free, where GM will remotely scan your vehicle for problems once a month via it's OnStar system. GM has had this ability for a while, however it was always 'On Request'. OnStar is already automatically notified in the event of an airbag deployment, and can remotely unlock your vehicle. While this seems handy, I am interested if anyone here fears the security implications of the OnStar system's power?"

Damnit! I want some OnStar! Or just a GPS system in my car. Of course I don't go anywhere so it is just my need...um...want for new technology. Im so sad. *sob*

Microsoft Rips Off Google Homepage!

Microsoft Rips Off Google Homepage!: "Check this out, Microsoft has completely stolen Google Home Page (http://www.google.com/ig). Same color scheme, same features, same EVERYTHING. Has Microsoft labs just given up?"

I don't know about given up, but this is actually a good thing. Shows that Microsoft is worried enough that they are gonna try to offer better "free" stuff to users, and it is good for google because they are finally getting some competition... and we all know once u get "deep pocket" Microsoft on ur case ur in for a long haul.

Microsoft releases new photo sharing app
